Presented at the Fondation Cartier on the eve of the new millennium, the exhibition Un monde réel revisited the major themes of science fiction and space conquest, offering food for thought on imagination and its relationship to reality in the late twentieth century.
The catalog brings together works, objects, and texts on the theme of the universe with contributions from physicists, painters, writers, art historians, filmmakers, and urban planners: Paul Virilio, Jean-Louis Schefer, Moebius, Anne Diatkine... Each calls upon childhood imagination and reality, thereby combining two essential dimensions—man and play—through which we invent the world and make it our own.
Texts by Michel Cassé, Anne Diatkine, Étienne Roda-Gil, Jean Louis Schefer, Dan Simmons
Conversations between Mœbius and Paul Virilio, Andrei Ujica and Paul Virilio, Sergei Krikalev and Andrei Ujica, Anne Diatkine and Axel Kahn
The catalog includes a DVD of Out of the Present, the film by Andrei Ujica, 92’, subtitled in four languages: French, English, German, Spanish. Co-production Fondation Cartier / K-Films.
