In October 2025, the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain inaugurated its new exhibition spaces in the heart of Paris. This large historic building was built opposite the Louvre in 1854 to host the visitors to the 1855 Paris Universal Exhibition. It underwent many changes over the 19th and 20th centuries: initially the Grand Hôtel du Louvre, it became the Grands Magasins du Louvre in 1880 and the Louvre des Antiquaires in 1978. For the Fondation Cartier, Jean Nouvel totally reshaped and rehabilitated the building’s interior spaces to offer a modular architectural machine dedicated to artistic creation.

Through the astonishing paper constructions of Dominique Ehrhard and texts by Anne-Florence Lemasson, this pop-up book invites you to discover the new space of the Fondation Cartier. From the Grand Hôtel du Louvre to the Fondation Cartier, from the exhibition rooms filled with artworks to the tree-lined courtyards seen from the sky, 2, place du Palais-Royal, in the heart of historic and cultural Paris, is revealed from every angle.
